Editorial Policy

This page sets out how OneVisit produces its journalism: where our information comes from, who checks it, and what we do when we get something wrong. We publish it so readers can judge our work by a standard we have stated in advance.

How We Source Stories

• We prefer primary sources: official statements, published documents, court and government records, and first-hand accounts.
• Where we rely on another outlet's reporting, we say so in the article and link to it. We do not present other people's work as our own.
• Claims that matter to a story are checked against at least one independent source before publication wherever it is practical to do so.
• We identify our sources by name unless there is a clear public-interest reason not to, and we explain when and why a source is anonymous.

Writing and Review

Every article is written by a named member of our team, whose byline appears on the piece along with its publication date. Articles are reviewed by an editor before they go live. We separate reporting from opinion: analysis and comment are labelled so readers can tell the difference.

Use of AI Tools

We may use software tools to assist with research, transcription, translation and proofreading. Every published article is written, checked and approved by a person, and a human editor is accountable for its accuracy. We do not publish unreviewed machine-generated articles.

Corrections

We correct our mistakes rather than quietly delete them. When a published article is found to contain a factual error:

• We fix the error as soon as we have confirmed it.
• We add a dated correction note to the article explaining what was wrong and what changed.
• If the error was serious enough to change the meaning of the story, we say so prominently rather than in a footnote.
• Typographical fixes that do not change meaning are made without a note.

Right of Reply

Where an article makes a significant criticism of a person or organisation, we approach them for comment before publication and include their response. If we could not reach them in time, we say so, and we will add their response afterwards.

Advertising and Editorial Independence

Advertising pays for this site, and advertisers have no influence over what we cover or what we conclude. Ads are served automatically by third-party networks including Google AdSense; we do not choose individual advertisers and their presence is not an endorsement. Sponsored articles, if we publish any, are labelled clearly at the top of the page. Read our Disclaimer for more.

Conflicts of Interest

Our writers disclose any personal, financial or professional interest in a subject they are covering, and we note that disclosure in the article. Where a conflict cannot be managed, the story is reassigned.

Plagiarism and Copyright

Plagiarism is grounds for removing an article and ending a writer's involvement with the site. We license or credit the images we use. If you believe we have used your work without permission, contact us and we will remove or credit it promptly.
